Jackson Hole - Yellowstone

So our little family of 4.5 took off for a mini trip within a trip. We went to Yellowstone and spent the night in the park. We are so glad we did that. Yellowstone is pretty amazing. We were in awe at how many different natural wonders were in one spot! If we ever have the opportunity again to come out here, David and I were dreaming of staying in one hotel per night all around the park to really take it all in.
This time we stayed in Grants Village. We had dinner that night at a lake side restaurant and our waiter went to Auburn! Small world.

In the morning we quickly woke up, got dressed and went straight to Old Faithful. I was amazed at how many geysers are in the area. I always just thought it was that one geyser with some cool colorful features around it. I had no idea that there were tons of steaming geysers everywhere.

The colorful thermal features were so cool. It kind of looked like we were on the moon at some parts.

After Old Faithful we ate lunch and let the girls have naps in the car while we drove over to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. On the way we saw lots of buffalo.

There was a herd that lots of people were getting out of their car to see so we decided to go too.
Finally we made it to the canyon area.

Hiking down to the lower falls there was no hint that this amazing view was at the bottom. That is what was so crazy about yellowstone. It looks pretty and normal and then boom - something amazing to see!
Elizabeth Joy loved the waterfall and wanted to make sure we didn't miss it!

Here is a shot of the upper falls.
Then as we were driving, a buffalo was just sitting watching the cars go by! Ha!

We had a close encounter with a buffalo. What a fun memory! The video doesn't show it, but for a brief second the buffalo stuck his nose in the window to sniff Elizabeth Joy!!
On our way home, we grabbed dinner at a yummy pizza and pasta place in Moose, WY. What a beautiful little place!
