Happy Weekend

This weekend we had a great time with friends! Friday morning Caroline and I met up with a friend from graduate school for crepes that were fantastic! She works at a university a couple hours away from here. Then Friday afternoon I took dinner over to another friend from graduate school that just got a job at SLU and was moving to her new apartment.

Friday night David, Caroline and I went to the Zoo with two friends from seminary. We had a picnic at a free outdoor concert at the zoo. It was super fun.
Here are John and Alison - the great planners of the evening. Alison didn't even mind that Caroline spit up carrots all over her skirt. :-)

Saturday morning Caroline had her first swim class at the Y! She loves the water. She just kicks kicks the whole time. We sang songs and swished her around in the water. She "slid" down a slide (we really just carried her down the slide) and played with water toys. She hasn't gone all the way under yet, which is fine by us!
Saturday night (4th of July) our neighborhood had a corn hole tournament. David and I were very competitive and had a super exciting game against Beth and Barrett. We had a huge crowd around us hooting and hollering with every toss.
A sample of the crowd of spectators.
Towards the end of the evening we could see a great fireworks display through the trees far away. It was so neat. Pete was not a huge fan of sparklers and fire crackers... poor guy! It was still a great weekend.

This morning we are off to try Memorial Presbyterian. Last week we went to New City, a super cool church with refugees and a passion focused on Africa - which is how I'm bent too!  The week before was Covenant and before that was Twin Oaks, both great churches too! We don't love church shopping, but we figured this could be our last time to choose the church we go to. After seminary, David will be hired by whatever church we go to. There are just so many great churches to choose from here in St. Louis. I think next week we have South City on the schedule :-) We hope to settle on one by the fall. We really want to get involved asap. We'll let you know how it goes!
